The animated series starring Meghan Markle has been cancelled. A recent story by Deadline, which was first reported by Just Jared, claims that Netflix has cancelled Meghan Markle’s animated series, which was created by the 40-year-old actress through her production company, Archewell Productions. For those who are unfamiliar with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s involvement with the Archewell Production company, they founded it jointly.
A family series centred on the adventures of a 12-year-old girl who finds inspiration in the lives of a range of famous women throughout history, Pearl, was set to be the company’s debut animated project. While speaking about the project at the time of its announcement, Meghan explained that the protagonist Pearl was on a quest for personal discovery while overcoming the hardships of everyday life, just like many other young women her age. “I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, in collaboration with Netflix’s strong platform and these incredible filmmakers, will bring you this new animated series that honours amazing women throughout history,” she said in a statement.
Meanwhile, during her introductory remarks, Meghan Markle talked about how she and Canadian filmmaker David Furnish had been keen to bring this initiative to the public’s attention from the beginning. However, according to rumours, the project has been shelved as far as Netflix is concerned, despite the fact that neither the production firm nor Meghan Markle have issued any formal announcements.
Many project deals for other Archewell productions are still in the works, including the planned docu-series Heart of Invictus, which will be released in 2017. Meghan also recently announced the launch of her Archetypes podcast, which will be available on Spotify. The audio series, which will be hosted by Markle, will look into the labels that are used to try to keep women at bay.
