There’s No Place Like Home…”: Elijah McKenzie-Jackson’s Pioneering Megaphone Sculpture

A Symbol of Resilience and Change, Premiering at Time Square and COP28

Elijah McKenzie-Jackson, an artist renowned for his impactful art, has recently unveiled his debut sculpture, “There’s No Place Like Home…” This masterpiece, initially valued at $15,000 by Sotheyby’s auction house’s certified appraisers, is currently making waves as the world’s most expensive megaphone sculpture.

Drawing inspiration from Dothey’s ‘Ruby Slippers’ in ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ McKenzie-Jackson’s sculpture is more than just an art piece; it’s a representation of courage and resilience. This innovative work focuses on contemporary issues like climate change, biodiversity loss, and the impacts of global conflict.

What sets this sculpture apart is its composition and the labor of love behind it. It’s meticulously crafted with 17,270 lab-grown Ruby Swarovski crystals, and it required over 65 hours of labor to complete. This not only adds to its aesthetic appeal but also embeds it with deep cultural significance and emotional resonance.

However, “There’s No Place Like Home…” is more than just a visual spectacle. It serves as a dynamic platform for diverse voices, featuring a digital component that allows people to contribute voice messages. This feature makes the sculpture a living, evolving testament to the collective voice on crucial global issues.

Elijah McKenzie-Jackson himself describes the sculpture as a reflection of childhood dreams seen in a modern light, emphasizing the urgent need for fundamental human rights like housing, which are constantly threatened by climate change, biodiversity loss, and war. The sculpture stands as a testament to the strength, power, and relentless spirit of Generation Z.

The sculpture’s digital premiere on the Time Square Billboards on New Year’s Eve 2023, in collaboration with Artist Talk Magazine, marked a significant moment in contemporary art. It was also launched at COP28 in Dubai, further underlining its relevance to global environmental and social issues.

Elijah McKenzie-Jackson’s work is a bold statement in the world of modern art, blurring the lines between art, activism, and technology. For more information and updates, art enthusiasts and activists alike are encouraged to follow Elijah on Instagram at @Elijahmckenziejackson.
