Musk promises to continue leading Twitter until a replacement is found.

THE AP: SAN FRANCISCO Elon Musk declared on Tuesday that he intends to continue leading Twitter until he can find a suitable candidate to take his place.

Millions of Twitter followers begged Musk to resign in a non-scientific vote that the billionaire himself devised and vowed to follow, leading to his announcement.

“As soon as I find someone stupid enough to take the job, I’ll step down as CEO!” Tweeted by Musk. “After that, I’ll merely be in charge of the servers and software teams.”

Musk’s tenure as CEO of San Francisco-based Twitter since late October has been characterised by hastily announced regulations and procedures that are frequently withdrawn or amended shortly after being made public.

Additionally, he has alienated some Tesla investors who feel that Twitter is consuming too much of his time. Tesla makes electric vehicles.
Musk’s activities have alarmed Twitter advertisers and alienated users in some cases. The firm disbanded a council of trust and safety consultants it established in 2016 to address hate speech, child exploitation, suicide, self-harm, and other issues on the platform, in addition to firing half of its staff and letting go contract content moderators.

Musk, who also runs the rocket business SpaceX, has previously emphasised how challenging it will be to find a replacement for him as CEO of Twitter.

Last Sunday, while teasing his Twitter followers, he remarked that the person taking his place “must like pain a lot” to oversee a business that has been “in the fast lane to bankruptcy.”

“No one wants the position that could genuinely sustain Twitter. No successor exists, Musk tweeted.

As it stands, Musk would continue to have a significant amount of control over the platform because he owns it. Soon after assuming control, the board of directors was removed.
